About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Rail team, as a Health & Safety Specialist. This person will promote a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the organisation through leading by example, engaging workers in safety conversations, promoting positive safety actions and initiatives. Additionally, undertaking planned general inspections on client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Compliance Manager + HSQE team in administrative duties
  • Undertake internal audits, and support others
  • Help develop effective policies and procedures
  • Conducting and recording regular risk assessments, inspections, audits and site audit
  • Keeping accident record and carry out recording of incident investigations
  • Training employees on safety, health and environmental issues
  • Staying up to date with health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Working with Health and Safety Executive inspectors and clients
  • Hand Arm Vibration process
  • Undertake site inspections (Network Rail / RFLI)
  • Identify any personal and professional development areas and agree appropriate method of delivery with line management
  • Represent the organisation at external events and training sessions and ensure that any learning is shared with the team



About You:

  • Proven health and safety experience
  • Experience within the relevant/Railway sector
  • Working knowledge of specialised sector
  • Basic Health and Safety law
  • Intermediate word processing
  • Intermediate spreadsheets
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Clean driving licence
  • Ability to build a rapport with colleagues, clients and candidates at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines


Qualification:

 

  • Level 3 health and safety qualification such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate
